How to use leverage rapid prototyping as an essential element of a Design Thinking process?
Reflecting about the newest design thinking's workshop is about prototyping. A prototype is defined as a simple testable model of a recommended solution applied to design assumptions, validate or test
ideas, and other features of its conceptualization rapidly and economically, with
the aim of helping the designer/s involved can make proper or possible modifications
in direction. Prototypes
are all tangible forms of the ideas which can take many forms and they don’t
need to be primitive forms of a final
product.
I realized that how the procedure of Rapid Prototyping is crucial
to the success of Design Thinking although it can be a part of the procedure which
is overlooked by people. Prototyping is regarding the conveying conceptual or
theoretical ideas to the existence and discovering their real-world influence
before finally executing them. Indeed, the process of prototyping is a primary trial or model in order to quickly make a set of
solutions to problems and challenges already identified and argued by design
thinkers.I have seen Lots of prototypes entirely fail fast. However, since they go wrong,
and fail early, prototypes can let us consider quickly what is working and what
is not. Accordingly, it will be lifesavers
averting the waste of time and money on executing weak or unsuitable solutions.
According to IDEO, “If a picture is worth a
thousand words, then a prototype is worth a thousand meetings.”
So
if something goes wrong, this is the situation prototyping comes in
by presenting a collection of tactics and tools for appropriately examining and
testing ideas before too many resources get consumed. Additionally, it allows users to visualise and observe
the system and give feedback on it. Therefore, prototyping can be applied to make
clear the user requirements selections and afterwards in the life-cycle, it will
be utilised to determine details of the user interface to be involved in the oncoming
system.
In
fact, the main concept of rapid
prototyping is just to do something and creating at least a very simple model
in order to help get people thinking and learning
from mistakes before investing too much money and time.
It is not necessary which the prototyping
materials and items be complicated or expensive. They can be made by a
simple cardboard, paper, coffee cups, scissors, post-it notes and other simple
stuff. Rapid prototyping means transferring and translating your thoughts
into tangible things as fast as you can and shouldn’t waste a long time for
building a model which can complicate the procedure of finding the optimal
solution to a problem.
